财务灵活性与公司财务政策选择

Financial flexibility refers to the ability of a firm to respond to unexpected changes in the firm's cash flow or investment opportunity set(Denis,2011). Recent financial crisis suggests that the main reason for firms to become financially difficult is being unable to maintain sufficient financial flexibility. There has been a growing body of literature on financial flexibility since its importance has been recognize.Since firms in emerging and transition economy usually face greater financial risks,financial flexibility should be more valuable for Chinese firms and financial flexibility would play a more important role in the Chinese context. This project attempts to study determinants of financial flexibility, the mechanism and potential channels in which financial flexibility affects corporate financial policies. The main feature of this project is that we construct a financial flexibility index based on a large sample of carefully-designed questionares,in dept interviews in some typical cases, supplemented with our follow-on theoretical and empirical research. We provide a new perspective to understanding financial policies by identifying improved indicators of financial flexibility, seeking determinants of financial flexibility, and exlporing the link between financial flexibility and financial policies.

财务灵活性是企业应对现金流和投资机会意外变化的能力。全球金融危机之后，相关研究表明，财务灵活性缺失是企业陷入财务困境的主要原因，财务灵活性因此得到了学术界的高度重视，成为新的研究热点。作为新兴加转型的经济体，我国企业所面临的财务风险更为严峻，财务灵活性对企业的重要性不言而喻，因此，财务灵活性在我国更具研究价值。 本项目主要研究影响我国企业财务灵活性的因素以及财务灵活性对企业财务政策选择的影响机制和传导路径。 本项目的最主要特色在于以大样本问卷调查和典型个案深度访谈获得的我国公司财务决策的典型事实为基础，通过理论分析和实证研究，构建财务灵活度指数，优化财务灵活性价值的度量指标，确认影响公司财务灵活性的因素，厘清财务灵活性影响公司财务政策选择的机制和路径，为理解公司财务政策提供新的理论视角。

大量证据表明，财务灵活性是公司高管制定财务政策时考虑的首要因素，但是，令人遗憾的是，传统的公司财务理论分析框架却甚少将财务灵活性纳入研究视野。为了弥补理论与实践的缺口，最近几年，财务学者们开始从学术上探讨财务灵活性为何影响公司财务政策、如何影响公司财务政策。尽管这些研究取得令人瞩目的成果，但问题还远没有解决，譬如，我们尚不清楚财务灵活性到底在多大程度上影响了公司财务决策，我们也不知道公司不同财务灵活性来源的相对收益与成本，以及公司获取财务灵活性的先后顺序如何影响公司的现金政策、股利支付政策和资本结构政策等财务政策。.本研究项目拟对财务灵活性如何影响公司财务决策进行系统研究。它由以下3个相互关联、依次推进的子课题组成：(1)公司财务灵活性水平和价值的度量研究；（2）财务灵活性的影响因素异研究；(3) 财务灵活性影响公司财务政策的机制和路径研究。.在课题组成员的共同努力下，本研究项目得以按计划顺利进行，并取得了预期的研究成果。课题组成员以基金资助的名义在《经济研究》，《中国工业经济》，《经济管理》，《南开管理评论》，Journal of Corporate Finance, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal等国内外核心学术期刊发表论文8篇，在经济管理出版社出版学术专著：《财务灵活性对公司财务政策的影响机制研究》。.通过研究，我们进一步厘清了财务灵活性影响公司财务政策的机理，发现了财务灵活性影响我国上市公司财务政策的新证据，并以财务灵活性为视角，窥探了公司各财务政策之间的整体联动机制。
