Containerization and multi-modal transport is the developing trend of freightage. In order to adapt the demand of this trend, the study about the planning theory and application of container multi-modal transport corridor is important. At present, the study about corridor of multi-modal transport by containers is few. Therefore on the basis of the achievements of this field, this project systematically discussed the planning problems of container multi-modal transport corridor.It discusses the concept, the cause of formation, the composing and the characteristics of container multi-modal transport corridor. It was indicated that containerization is the foundation of the formation and development of container multi-modal transport corridor. The planning and management of container multi-modal transport corridor have the characteristics of nation whole, enterprise behavior, region economy and dynamic transformation. On the point of systematic and holistic view, it was analyzed the current situations and the existent problems of container multi-modal transport corridor. The unitive planning of the transportation network and the cooperation among the participators are the most important problems of the management of container multi-modal transport corridor. The common mechanism of container multi-modal transport corridor was discussed. The level of economic development is the basic of the development of container multi-modal transport corridor.
