Polyoxometalates-templated chiral polynuclear lanthanide clusters are potential multifunctional materials that display electrical, magnetic, thermal and catalytic properties, even other synergetic effects, due to the integration of special properties of the parent compounds. Thus, rational design and synthesis of polyoxometalates-templated chiral polynuclear lanthanide clusters are of key importance for the application of the materials. However, the rational design and synthesis of such lanthanide clusters remain a great challenge, except a few of lacunary polyoxometaltes based lanthanide clusters were explored. Accordingly, we focus our research on the rational design and synthesis of polyoxometalates-templated chiral polynuclear lanthanide clusters and investigation on the mechanism of assembly of and magnetic and optical properties of these clusters. This project plans to 1) construct novel polynuclear lanthanide clusters with polyoxometalates that are stable in neutral and alkaline solutions, 2) investigate the process and mechanism of self-assembly of these clusters in solutions by combination electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and other spectroscopes, 3) study the magnetic and optical properties experimentally and theoretically, and try to modify the structures and electron configuration of the resulted clusters in order to underlying interplay between magnetic and optical properties.
手性多核稀土簇合物是一类具有确定组成和结构,以及潜在多功能的分子基材料,可用于手性识别、显示材料和信息存储等领域。本项目拟利用中性或碱性条件下稳定的多酸为"模板",控制合成手性多核稀土簇合物;采用质谱、圆二色光谱等手段研究手性多核稀土簇合物在溶液中的反应过程,揭示其成簇规律和机理以及手性起源和转移规律;研究所得新型稀土簇合物的磁学性质和光学性质,探索稀土簇合物中潜在的磁-光学相互作用。预期研究成果能够加深对多核稀土簇合物的组装过程以及结构-性能关系的理解,增强对多核稀土簇合物结构和功能的有效调控,拓展稀土化合物的性质和应用,具有重要的科学意义。
