A real-time measurement system of Poisson’s ratio with the.accuracy of 0.001 micormeter were designed and produced, and the data.collection velocity of the system is 1 millisecond, which provided.a good base for the research work. Primary exploration on the possible.negative Poisson’s ratio effect of polyolefin blends confirmed our.assumption that some polymer blends do exhibit negative Poisson’s.ratio effect. The results showed that a special polyolefin endexhibit a Poisson’s ratio of – 8 with a duration of 25 seconds. Anda steady system with a a Poisson’s ratio of –2.4 was found. On thebasis of the phenomena observed in the xprements, a Rotation-Cavitation model was oncluded to clarify the mechanism of thenegative Poisson’s ratio effect
