Existing maps are majorly made by professionals using “standard” methods and disseminated by means of so-called “broadcasting” that spreads out maps from a central point to all around, which has great functions in disseminating and propagating map information but possesses following disadvantages, such as inconsistency between the contents on the maps and the information the readers require, long time spending in making the maps, strict demandingness in the map makers’ professional training, and slowness in map dissemination which cannot meet the demands of modern map readers in quick and smart distribution and strong personality in map contents. Hence, to complement the disadvantages of traditional maps the concept of We-Map is proposed by which the map is cooperatively made by “grassroots” and interactively propagated among them. The following issues will be researched in this study: (1) a strict definition, characteristics, features, functions and classification systems of We-Map, (2) people groups that likes We-Map and the characteristics and modes of We-Map dissemination, (3) design method of We-Map symbols, (4) mathematical foundations of We-Maps, (5) a model for We-Map quality assessment, and (6) a platform for making and propagating We-Maps. This study emphasizes on the making and propagating methods of We-Maps and aims at providing a theoretical foundation and a viable means to put We-Maps into practical use.
当前的地图主要由专业人员采用“标准”方式制作,以“广播”方式由点到面地传播,虽然对地理信息的分发、传播作用巨大,但仍然存在如下弊端:地图内容大而全,与个体用户需求的具体信息不一致;地图制作费时;对制图者素质要求高;地图传播速度慢,无法满足用户灵活、快捷、个性化的要求。为此本项目提出了由“草根”们“互助”制作、以“互播”形式传播的微地图作为传统地图的补充,并拟对如下问题进行研究:(1)微地图的定义、性质、特点、功能和分类体系等概念性问题;(2)微地图的传播人群、传播特性和传播方式;(3)微地图符号系统的构建方法;(4)微地图的数学基础;(5)微地图的可靠性评价模型;(6)微地图的制作与传播平台的研发。本课题将着重研究微地图的制作和传播方法,为微地图成为一种新型、便捷的地理信息承载媒介提供理论支持和实现方法。
