An enthusiastic, experienced and diverse team of academics and their students, public outreach experts, and award-winning media producers aims at creating an educational and engaging feature-length documentary targeting general Chinese and international audiences. We aim at highlighting China’s key contributions to progress in astronomy, both in an international context and from the personal perspectives of the people involved throughout the course of the history of astronomy. The human stories of Chinese discovery and perseverance, both past and present, have never been explored from these angles, but this is a story definitely worth telling. With the International Astronomical Union’s General Assembly due to be held in Hawaii in August 2015, this offers the opportunity to showcase China’s scientific achievements and ambitions to the largest possible international scientific audience simultaneously, as well as reaching out to general audiences at home and abroad. Over its history of more than 20 years, the National Natural Science Foundation of China has played a crucial role in the development of Chinese astronomy, not only regarding basic major projects such as Lamost and FAST, but also through the promotion of astronomy popularization and education, such as through support of the National Middle School Astronomy Olympiad. Through production of this documentary, the prominent role of the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s development role fostering progress in astronomy will be positively reflected.
由一个有经验的、热情和有着不同背景的学术人员、学生和科普工作人员、以及曾获过奖的媒体制作人所组成的团队,在本项目中致力于为中国和国际的观众制作一个介绍中国天文贡献的全篇幅的科学教育记录片。该记录片将以中国天文学发展中的主要人物为主线,从讲人的故事的角度讲述中国古代天文学和现代天文学中的发现和中国天文学家们不懈的努力。2015年8月将在夏威夷举办的第29届国际天文联合会的大会,这次会议是全球最大的天文学家的聚会,是我们向世界各国天文学家和公众介绍中国天文学以往成就和未来计划的好机会。国家自然科学基金在建立的20多年来,对中国天文学的发展起到了至关重要的作用,这不仅体现在了基础天文的重大项目如Lamost, FAST上,也体现在对天文普及教育的推广方面,如对全国中学生天文奥赛的支持。本项目的主要工作之一是通过这一纪录片的拍摄,体现国家自然科学基金对中国天文发展的突出作用。
