This project focuses on the western segment of the Altyn Tagh, western China. Based on studies of deformation, metamorphism, petrology,mineralogy, geochemistry and geochronology, the project have presented the PT path of metamorphic evolution and eclogite-facies metamorphic age (500Ma) of eclogites, and firstly provide proof of eclogite formation under UHP conditions. In combination with studies on eclogites in the western segment of the North Qaidam Mountains, a UHP metamorphic belt displaced by the Altyn Tagh fault in western China have been confirmed .
