According to two estimated relations between the initial period and the dynamo-generated magnetic dipole field of pulsars, we found that proto-pulsars are very likely to have rotation periods between 20 and 30 ms. As for the question whether pulsars are neutron stars or srtange stars, we propose that the featureless spectrum observed recently could be a new probe for identifying strange stars. In order to investigate completely the pulsar-like stars, we studied the surface electric field of bare strange stars, possible evidence for outer gap in pulsar magnetospheres, electron cyclotron lines from bare strange stars, and ultra-high energy cosmic rays.
磁场是麦冲星类天体极显明的特征之一,对于这类天体的形成、演化及若干观测表现都起很重要的作用。但至今人们对麦冲星磁场的理解并未共识。麦冲星类天体有可能是中子星或奇异星。本项目拟研究麦冲星磁场若干可能的形成过程(包括磁流体力学发电机机制、强磁化介质稳定性等)及其与各种观测现象的联系,以期寻找肯定或否定奇异星存在的确切证据。
