Drosophila was used as a model system in eukaryotic genetics throughout the last century and the wealth of its mutants makes it an invaluable tool for neurobiology. Facilitated by genetic manipulation great progresses have been achieved in the studies of Drosophila associative learning through behaviour and molecular analysis of mutanes. The power of it genetics can be applied to study the molecular mechanisms of these human disease gene functions. .Dut to th homology between Drosophila and human diseases genes, it is feasible to study the pathology of human neuronal disorders such as Alzhiemer's and Parkinson's diseases on transgenic Drosophila.. In Drosophila, disease proteins mediated neurotoxicity appears in the corresponding transgenic Drosophila. Alzhiemer's disease transgenic Drosophila model is characterized defined histologicaliy by two distinguishing pathologies: amyloid plaques, which are extracellular deposits consisting mainly of aggregated β-amyloid peptide, and neurofibribrillary tangles, which are intracellular deposits consisting predominantly of hyperphosphorylated tau protein. Based on our existing transgenic Drosophila models, drug screenig system is formed and be used to screen the effective drugs for treating human neurodegenerative diseases...In our approach, we combine forward and reverse mutagenesis with molecular biology, anatomy behavior and pharmacology studies, aiming at the discovery of new genes related to learning /memory and human neurodegenerational diseases.
