The sharing economy profoundly changes the environment in which the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) operate, as well as the conditions under which the innovation of SMEs takes place. The existing literature, while studying the impacts of sharing economy on the consumption and product market, paid less attention to its impacts on the innovation of SMEs. In this project, we intend to explore how the sharing economy influences the innovation activities in the SMEs, through four channels: resource allocation, information structure, social network and the mode of consumption. We will set up a network game model to capture the characters of the aforementioned four channels and characterize the strategical interaction between the SMEs and other parties in the social network. By solving the game, we will proceed to analyze the optimal design of platform, with an aim to maximize the social welfare and spur the innovation in the SMEs. Based on theoretical results and comparative statics, we will identify testable hypotheses for empirical testing. In the part of empirical research, we will collect data on open innovation platforms, p2p finance companies and SMEs in Guangdong and Zhejiang. By employing case studies and econometric methods (such as Difference in Difference approach), we will evaluate how the platforms influence the efficiency and performance of innovations in SMEs. Finally, based on our theoretical and empirical findings, we will provide policy recommendations for how to improve the capacity and efficiency of the SME innovation.
“共享经济”改变了中小企业创新的条件与环境。现有对共享经济的研究主要集中在消费领域,缺乏其对中小企业创新行为影响的研究。本课题将从资源配置模式、信息结构、社会网络、消费模式四个维度逐步剖析共享经济对中小企业创新行为的影响机制,通过构建网络博弈模型分析中小企业与其它利益相关者在共享经济社会创新网络中的策略互动,探索共享经济下提升中小企业创新能力与动力的最优机制。在求解理论模型的基础上,提出可供实证检验的命题。本课题将收集广东、浙江等地的开放性创新平台、互联网金融平台以及中小型科技企业的数据,通过双重差分、案例比较等方法研究共享经济平台对中小企业创新绩效的影响。最后,就如何在共享经济下提高中小企业创新能力和水平提出可操作的政策建议。
本项目研究了共享经济下中小企业的创新行为以及促进创新的激励机制,并且评价了政府科技政策对参与平台的中小企业创新绩效的影响。取得三个方面的成果:(1)建立了分析共享平台中小企业创新行为的一般框架;(2)厘清了基于信息共享的创新同群效应的发生机理;(3)提出了在共享经济情境中促进中小企业创新的新机制。以该项目为第一标注并且以课题负责人为第一作者或通讯作者的成果发表在Management Science、Journal of Economic Theory、Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization等国际A类期刊,项目成果获得2018年中国信息经济学青年创新奖、2019年中国信息经济学乌家培奖(资助计划)等。本项目取得的系列成果既发展了创新激励理论研究,也可具体应用在中小企业创新激励机制设计、政府科技政策设计、平台规制与监管等领域。
