爪蟾卵抽提物可以使哺乳动物G1期细胞核的DNA复制在专一的位点上起始。另一方面,利用芽殖酵母S期的细胞抽提物,可以使芽殖酵母细胞核的DNA复制在专一的位点上起始。而在我们的研究工作中,我们发现爪蟾卵抽提物可以使G1期的芽殖酵母细胞核的DNA复制,但这种起始是非专一性的,不依赖特定的酵母DNA起始序列。这一工作揭示,芽殖酵母DNA复制的起始调控与哺乳动物细胞的不一样。这一工作还表明,爪蟾卵体外复制系统可以用来研究低等真核生物的DNA复制起始的调控。
