The Northeast Tianyuan Mathematics Center is a center for computational mathematics in coordination with other mathematical areas that are the strength of institutions in the northeast region, such as partial differential equations, statistics, and dynamical systems. The mission of the center is to establish an academic exchange and collaboration platform with distinguishing regional and disciplinary characteristics. Together with 13 other universities in the northeast region, including Northeast Normal University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Dalian University of Technology, the host institution, Jilin University, will provide strong support to the center, including cost sharing, office space, and administrative support. The center’s Scientific Committee will provide the core leadership for the center. The committee will be in charge of forming the center and choosing several thematic topics each year. It is also responsible for providing guidance on center’s management and academic activities. The mission of the center will be accomplished through a variety of academic activities surrounding the yearly thematic topics and related areas.Four thematic topics are planned in 2018: 1. Mathematical Theory and Numerical Methods for Material Sciences; 2. Computational Inverse Problems and Their Applications in Deep Ocean Explorations; 3. Training in Statistics for Rising Faculties in Early Career; 4. Mathematical Theory and Numerical Methods for Multimedia Radiation Fluids. The overarching goal of the Northeast Tianyuan Mathematics Center is to build a strong academic exchange and collaboration platform through the incorporation of successful experiences of similar centers and institutions from other countries, and use the platform to train and produce high caliber researchers and scholars in computational mathematics and related areas for our country, especially the northeast region.
数学天元东北中心以计算数学为侧重,结合东北地区数学学科的特色与优势,在吉林大学的全力支持下,联合东北师范大学、大连理工大学和哈尔滨工业大学等十三家共建单位,打造带有学科特色的区域性学术交流平台。中心将围绕计算数学,同时联合统计学和应用偏微分方程、动力系统等应用数学领域,针对若干前沿领域和重要发展方向,促进计算数学与数学各分支及其它学科的交叉融合。数学天元东北中心将秉承学术委员会为核心的原则,在学术委员会的指导下进行中心的筹建、运营管理并开展学术活动。中心在2018年将围绕“材料科学中的数学理论与计算方法”、“计算反问题与深部探测应用”、“统计学青年骨干教师培训”和“极端条件下多介质辐射流体的数学理论与数值方法”等四个热点主题组织活动。中心将借鉴国际学术交流机构的成功经验与做法,打造具有学科特色的区域性学术交流平台。
