In this project, we studied hydrophobic-hydrophilic interaction-driven coiling and aggregation of several new series of synthetic molecules and their complexing behavior to som guests. 1) We synthesized several CTV derivatives incorporating three cholic acdi moieties and investigated their coiling properties in polar solvents. 2) We synthesized four derivatives containg three aromatic moieties and investigated their complexing behavior to fullerene in arenas. 3) We designed and synthesized a new class of bolaamphiphilic molecules and studied their deaggregating ability in aqueous medium. 4) We synthesized four linear molecules which incorporate one electron rich moiety and one electron acceptor moiety and studied their fluorescent behavior in binary solvents.
