Insect Cell lines which display various characteristics have been widel y used for studies of insect pathogens, specially insect viruses, and for recombinant protein production. However, it is not possible to predict the potential usefulness and biological characteristics of new cell lines from primary culture cell source. Genetic modification of insect cell line is now technically feasible by stably transfacting insect cells. Introduction of specific genes of know functions into insect cells could potentially achieve significant improvement of the cells towards desired characteristics.the baculovirus encoded protein P35 is an inhibitor of apoptosis of insect cells triggered by baculovirus infection. In this paper we report a stable transformation of insect cells, NNEAU Ms7311, with P35 gene which led to a significant improvement of the cell lines in their growth characteristics,production of virus, susceptibility to virus, stress in PBS,and level of recombinant protein production.
