It is known a common phenomenon that a ring-like deposit will form when a droplet of coffee is spilled onto a solid surface. With this ring-like deposit principle, we developed a capillary assembly ring technique by spotting a droplet of microlitter to nanolitter solution containing fluorescence analytes on a modified the solid surface with high polymers. By collecting the fluorescence signals with imaging analysis technique, we developed biochemical, pharmaceutical and environmental methods of analytes from fentomole to attomole. Since the reduced matrix effect compared to solution medium and the concentration prior to analysis, our developed methods have high tolerance and sensitivity levels. Since small amounts of samples are required, we suppose the ring-like deposit methods shows high promise in the applications of precious sample analysis, non-invasive analysis, and the development of chemical imaging chips.
