Physical design is an important phase in integrated circuit design automation. It is a rapid developing, changing, interdisciplinary and algorithm-intensive fields, where there exist lots of graph theory and combinational optimization problems. At present, almost all integrated circuit physical design automation software is imported from abroad, and there are few mathematicians in China working on areas related to integrated circuit physical design automation. It is urgent and important for our mathematicians to work in this area. The objective of this project is to bring together researchers in integrated circuit design, graph theory and combinatorial optimization, discuss the related problems, and push research of this area. This project focuses on mathematical problems and methods in integrated circuit design, especially problems and methods that interest researchers on graph theory and optimization. As predicted in the proposal, we hope that it can promote the research on mathematical problems in integrated circuit physical design automation and build a strong research team for the research of this subject.
大规模集成电路物理设计是一个发展变化快、学科交叉和算法密集的领域,涉及到大量的图论和组合优化模型与算法,是集成电路设计自动化的核心环节。目前我国系统地从事该领域研究的人员很少,且几乎没有数学专业研究人员,所用的设计软件几乎都是购自国外。因此,组织一批数学研究人员,争取在该领域取得成果,对于国内数学界是一项极具现实意义和迫切的任务。本项目的主要目的是通过举办集成电路芯片设计自动化国际会议及搭建相应的交流平台,使国内的数学工作者了解国内外集成电路设计自动化的发展现状及研究方向,掌握最新的集成电路设计自动化动态和存在的具体数学问题,促进和推动数学工作者积极参与集成电路设计过程中所遇到的实际数学问题,提升数学工作者面向集成电路产业从事应用数学研究的能力,促进我国从事大规模集成电路设计研究的高水平数学研究队伍的形成。
