失败是成功之母吗？创业失败经历与后续创业的联系研究

This project focuses on the relationship between entrepreneurial failure and subsequent entrepreneurship. It is the high failure rate of entrepreneurship at home and abroad that makes this topic a hot issue in current entrepreneurial research. Nevertheless, this kind of research is at the initial stage generally, as there is no consensus in terms of the basic concepts and no systematic empirical studies have been made. Against this background, the research content of this project includes three sections: firstly, it will define the basic concepts related to entrepreneurial failure and develop dimensions and attributions of entrepreneurial failure; secondly, it will develop the concept of coping orientation which means the action orientation of entrepreneurs after failure experience, and study the relationship among characteristics, attribution and coping orientation of entrepreneurial failure; thirdly, it will explore the venturing activities of subsequent entrepreneurship after failure, construct an integrated framework containing characteristics, attribution, coping orientation, and venturing activities of subsequent entrepreneurship, and thereby answer the core research question of this project—“Is failure the mother of success?” This project will try to build up a database of entrepreneurial failure and subsequent entrepreneurship in form of long-term tracking survey so as to establish the propositions and conclusions with longitudinal data. Based on domestic entrepreneurial activities, this project will develop the theory of entrepreneurial failure with formal theoretical research and empirical testing work, in a bid to give systematic suggestions for entrepreneurs in practice.

本课题主要关注之前的创业失败经历与后续创业的联系。由于创业失败率在国内外都高居不下，这一问题已经成为创业研究的热点，不过它们总体上处于起步阶段，基础概念还存在争议，也缺乏系统的实证研究。基于这一现实，课题的研究内容分为三个部分：对创业失败的基础概念进行界定，完成创业失败构成维度和发生原因的概念发展；对创业失败的应对导向——也就是创业者应对失败的行为导向——进行概念开发，完成创业失败特征、原因与应对导向的关系研究；对创业失败之后的创业行为进行分析，开发一个囊括创业失败特征、原因、应对导向和后续创业行为的整体性研究框架，从而回答课题的核心问题：失败是成功之母吗？课题将通过长期跟踪的调查方式，建立创业失败和后续创业的数据库，基于纵向数据的分析形成创业失败和后续创业研究的相关结论。课题立足于国内的创业实践，在规范的理论研究和实证检验的基础上发展创业失败理论，并为实践中的创业者提出系统性的政策建议。

从世界范围来看，创业活动的失败率很高。也有大量的创业者在失败后再次创业。基于这样的现实，创业失败和连续创业已经成为组织和管理研究的热点。不过，整体来看，在这一领域的理论性研究还比较少，另外，基于中国这样的发展中国家的创业案例和创业数据的研究也较为缺乏。基于上述背景，本课题主要关注创业者之前的创业失败经历与后续创业的联系。.课题的主要研究内容包括：系统回顾了创业失败研究的过去进展，分析了创业失败领域的未来研究机会；对创业者的失败归因进行了研究，分析创业者在何种情况下会更倾向于内部归因还是外部归因；对失败之后的连续创业行动进行了研究，特别是连续创业行动的战略、决策和企业的发展。.同时，本课题还基于创业失败研究，进一步开发了更为多元化的研究议题，这些议题包括创业者的健康状况研究、区域创业活动发展差异研究等。它们是现有研究的进一步拓展，预期能够形成创业者和创业行为研究的丰富和深化，并且成为未来创业研究的热点。.本课题还开发了一个立足于环渤海地区五省市的创业与中小企业数据库，每年我们定向跟踪一定量的创业型企业，考察他们在战略、业绩方面的变化。这一数据库充分支持了本课题的研究。.目前，本课题已经完成了预期研究目标，在Entrepreneurship & Regional Development，Small Business Economics，管理评论等国内外重要期刊上发表论文16篇。
