Biological effects of rare earths are controlled by their speciation. The speciation of rare earths in human interstitial fluid and blood plasma were studied , many interesting results were obtained for the first time.A multi-phase model of rare earths in human interstitial fluid were developed, the multi-model can be used to study speciation of rare earths . Many binary and ternary systems of rare earths with biological molecules in human interstitial fluid were studied systematically, and a lot of accurate stability constants for the complexes in these systems were obtained. Speciation of Pr(lll) in human interstitial fluid were studied by computer simulation, the results obtained are in good agreement with the experimental results. The studied results on speciation of rare earths in human blood plasma can explain the metabolism behavior of rare earths in human body successfully. Rare earths can affect speciation of Zn(ll) and Ca(ll) ions,which may be related to the biological effects of rare earths.
