The new reactions of m-CO and m-S- Fe/S cluster salts with m-S2Fe2(CO)6 and Fe3(CO)12 have been studied, and the new stepwise and self-assembly synthetic methods have been proposed. Based on such synthetic methods a series of linear and macrocyclic multibutterfly Fe/S cluster complexes with novel structure and properties have been synthesized, and the crystal structures of representative clusters and nonlinear optical properties of some representative clusters have been determined. This project has obtained a series of creative results, which have been partly described in eight papers published in the key international Journals, such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., Chem. Eur. J., Organometallics etc. , and have been largely citated. The results obtained from study of this project are of great importance and potentially useful in development of organometallic chemistry and cluster chemistry, as well as material science.
