Understanding the molecular mechanism of epigenetics is one of the most attractive research areas in life science, and the breakthroughs in epigenetics will certainly promote the advance of many disciplines in life science. According to the national basic research plan on the in-depth exploration of epigenetics, this study will adopt multidisciplinary methods including cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, developmental biology, structural biology and bioinformatics and focus on the biological phenomena involved in cell programming and reprogramming to elucidate the molecular mechanism of cell programming/reprogramming involved in cell proliferation, differentiation and development process. This study will provide scientific foundation for further understanding of normal individual development, disease initiation and development, stem cell directed differentiation and somatic cell reprogramming; and further provide theoretical basis for tissue repair and organ reconstruction; and provide scientific support for the invention of bio-engineering technologies and the development of innovative drug industry to improve human health. In-depth study of epigenetics will also improve the original innovation capability and international influences of basic research in China, and train a number of good scientists, and promote the rise and advance of basic research in China. This project aims to support the expert committee for the investigation, academic exchanges and project integration assessments.
表观遗传学研究是当今生命科学的前沿和热点领域,其开创性突破对生命科学众多学科的发展起到推动作用。针对国家基础研究对深入探讨表观遗传学的战略需求,该研究采用细胞生物学、分子生物学、遗传学、发育生物学、结构生物学、生物信息学等多学科交叉的手段,围绕细胞编程和重编程所涉及的主要生命现象,力求阐明细胞增殖、分化和发育过程中细胞编程/重编程的分子机制及其与细胞表型之间的关系,为进一步认识个体正常发育和疾病的发生发展、认识干细胞定向分化和体细胞重编程提供科学依据,为组织修复、器官重建提供理论基础,为以人口健康为主轴的生物工程新技术的发明和创新药物产业的蓬勃发展提供科学支撑。表观遗传学的深入研究同时也将提高我国基础研究的原始创新能力和国际影响力、培养一批高水平的研究人才,促进我国基础研究的崛起和发展。本项目用于支持表观遗传学基础研究专家组调研、学术交流以及项目集成评估。
