During the last two decades, a lot of innovations have appeared in the field of urban and regional research. New paradigms and approaches such as dynamics of complex systems, self-organization, evolution theory, have been recognized for better understanding the evolutional process of regional spatial structure.Our research treat city and region as an open, evolutional, non-linear complex system and using the science of complexity to explore the issues of spatial complexity. .Our research are consists three sections. First, the theory of urban and regional spatial evolution as complex spatial system. The evolutional process or urban and regional system can be seen as a cumulative and aggregated order which results from numerous locally made decisions. Therefore the basic force driving the evolution of regional system is inherently microscopic. Our research on urban and regional spatial evolution focuses on the microscopic mechanism of macroscopic emergence and its simulation based on the theories and methods of science of complexity. this research gives a detail discussion on the dynamic structure, characteristics, internal mechanisms of complex spatial system. Secondly, we did research on the simulating ideas and methodology aiming at two types of modeling strategy and proposed two schemes of complex spatial evolution model based on agent-based modeling (ABM) and the new economic geography. In ABM, an agent-based urban model is setup for further understanding the urban spatial evolution. The model is coping with land-use and land-transformation processes that occur in a spatial/landscape setting, including the human-behavioral component of the populations and individuals occupying these spatial settings. Socio-economic behavior and individual choices are highly correlated with land use and land cover changes through time and space. Its related problems such as building an agent and the platform of UrbanSwarm are also surveyed. In the new economic geography, through an approach of increasing returns, external economy and product differentiation, three types of regional models were setup to explore and the analyze dynamic mechanism of spatial evolution. Thirdly, we simulate our model with the empirical data in difference areas and the result shows these methods are able to perform this regeneration and to produce likely-to-occur projections of reality..
利用复杂科学的原理和方法,采用综合集成技术,研究区域复杂空间结构的演化机制,分析空间格局演化的判据、标度、条件和过程,总结出区域空间格局演化的本质特征和规律。同时,开展区域复杂空间格局与区域可持续发展相互作用机理的研究和模拟。. 本项目旨在研究和探索地理学关于空间格局的新理论和新方法,并为区域可持续发展提供科学依据。
