According to the traditional nucleation-growth kinetics theory, with the estimation for relative parameters such as the transformation free energy,the interfacial energy and the segregative coefficient of microalloy solute on dislocation, a relative quantitative theoretical calculation method for the PTT(precipitation amount-temperature-time)curve and the nucleation rate anti-C curve of microalloy carbonitride precipitated in ferrite has been proposed. The theoretical calculation results have shown that the maximum strengthening effect can be obtained with the precipitation temperature has been chosen at the maximum nucleation rate temperature. With the rational chose of the precipitate and the optimum design of the microalloy composite and the precipitation process parameters,the additional precipitation strengthening effect coupled with that of the martensite strengthening can be obtained thus to accomplish the low temperature secondary super-hardening in tool steels. This orignally creative technique has been of great significance not only for the materials science research but also for the prodution of tool steels and tools, and many new products with high properties and high performance have been developed.
