The current research aims to study the phylogeny of the tribe Lebiini, one of the largest tribes among the family Carabidae. Lebiini beetles are considered as an important composition of the biodiversity in canopy ecosystem, as well as an ideal model in the study of niche evolution. At present, the fauna of Chinese Lebiini is poorly known and species in this group is difficult to be identified; the current classification system needs to be reconstructed through solid phylogenetic analysis. To address the above mentioned issues, a comprehensive investigation and taxonomy revision on Chinese Lebiini species will be processed, based on morphological characters, including those from both male and female reproductive systems. Materials will be mainly obtained from historical collections deposited in Institute of Zoology (Beijing), tens of important European museums such as MNHN; additional fresh specimens will be collected as well. Meanwhile, phylogenetic trees of subtribes and genera will be constructed through cladistic analysis based on both morphological and molecular data, aiming to solve systematics problems such as systematic position and definition of genera and subtribes. Results of the present study will provide solid foundation for identifying Lebiini species, improve the study of Carabidae systematics in world wide, and influence related research such as biodiversity protection, insect community analysis etc.
壶步甲族是步甲科中物种最为丰富的族之一,且为树冠层物种多样性的重要组成,是研究生态位进化的理想材料。目前我国壶步甲分类学发展相对落后,物种鉴定十分困难;并且由于部分种、属或亚族界定不清以及缺乏全面可靠的系统发育重建结果,造成其分类系统非常不完善。基于此,本项目将通过对大量标本材料的形态特征比对,并检视国外馆藏的模式标本,对中国壶步甲族进行全面的物种调查和分类学修订。同时采用支序系统学方法,基于形态学和DNA数据,重建亚族及属间系统发育关系;据此准确界定各亚族、属,对现行分类系统提出修订。项目的研究结果将为该族昆虫提供可靠的物种鉴定依据,并有力推动世界步甲科系统发育研究,同时为生物多样性保护及利用步甲作为材料的相关研究提供参考。
壶步甲族是步甲科中一物种繁多的树栖类群。本项目以中国壶步甲族为研究对象,基于中国科学院动物研究所丰富的历史馆藏,并通过借阅、检视国内外多家收藏补充重要材料,其中包括一定数量的模式标本。通过查阅文献,形态比较,生殖器解剖等手段,对中国壶步甲族进行了较全面的鉴定,编制了中国壶步甲族名录、分属检索表及大部分属的分种检索表。共记录中国壶步甲族下14亚族55属256种,其中包括中国新纪录9属49种,新种23个。并针对部分重点属开展了世界范围内的物种修订工作。项目期内在中国的云南、广西、四川、甘肃等省份采集了万余号的步甲标本。项目结果为中国步甲科多样性研究及物种鉴定提供了重要的基础素材。项目培养硕士研究生1名,完成硕士学位论文1篇,发表SCI期刊论文2篇。
