Wuling Mountains area, which located at both the Oriental and Palearctic Regions, consists of many mountains with different elevations. Its vegetation and fauna are very diverse. It is one of the international key zones of biodiversity, and is called animal and plant gene pool in Southern China. Meanwhile it's also the origination and evolution center of the Oriental spiders. The number of animal species in this area contributes more than 2/3 of the total number of the whole China. Many species belongs to endangered, relic or endemic ones. The spiders in this area are estimated to be more than 2000 species including many cave-dwelling ones which are very good materials to the study on species evolution. This program is the important base for the study on the specific diversity, origination and evolution of Chinese spiders. It also can supply the important basic services for the implementation of the national program-The Programming for the District Development and Poverty Relief of Wuling Mountains Area. Spider is one of the most important natural enemies with the character of many species, many individuals, wide distribution, and to like to eat or kill the live pests, which can be used as good natural enemies to control the pests in forests and crops, further, can ensure the safe of forest and agricultural products, the balance of natural ecosystem and the continued development of tourism. Digital and internet data of this program can supply the rapid and long-distance services for scientific researches and social commonweal affairs.
武陵山地区不同海拔的高山众多,岩溶洞穴资源国内首位,植被类型多样,森林覆盖率高。处于东洋界和古北界交汇处,动物区系十分复杂。是具有国际意义的生物资源和生物多样性关键地区之一,素有"华中动植物基因库"之称,同时,也是东洋界蜘蛛的演化中心,动物种类数多,约占全国种类总数的三分之二以上,珍稀濒危种多、孑遗种多、特有种多。蜘蛛种类估计可达2000种以上,洞穴蜘蛛种类多,是物种进化研究的理想材料。本项研究是全面研究中国蜘蛛物种多样性及其起源与演化的重要基础。为全面实施国家《武陵山片区区域发展和扶贫攻坚规划》提供重要的基础服务,蜘蛛种类多、数量大、分布广,专捕活虫为食或杀而弃之,是害虫天敌的重要组成部分,保护蜘蛛资源、合理利用它们进行害虫的综合防治,为农林产品的安全生产、维护生态系统的稳定及旅游产业可持续发展的相关政策的制定提供科学依据。数字化、网络化的研究成果能远程快速服务于科学研究及公益事业。
武陵山地区不同海拔的高山众多,岩溶洞穴资源国内首位,植被类型多样,森林覆盖率高。是具有国际意义的生物资源和生物多样性关键地区之一,素有“华中动植物基因库”之称,本项研究通过对武陵山区蜘蛛进行系统的野外考察,采集到蜘蛛标本4万余号,共计577种, 其中发现新种113种,单性补充5个,建立了新属2个。相关研究成果发表了15篇学术论文,其中SCI收录12篇。相关研究成果对全面了解中国蜘蛛物种多样性状况及其起源和演化,具有十分重要的理论意义。蜘蛛种类多、数量大、分布广,专捕活虫为食或杀而弃之,是害虫天敌的重要组成部分,研究成果还能为保护蜘蛛资源、合理利用它们进行森林及农作物害虫的综合防治提供科学决策依据。
