Rungia Nees (Acanthaceae: Justicieae) is a genus comprises about 50 species distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the Old World, with 22 recorded to occur in China. Many species of this genus are of medicinal, edible and ornamental value. However, since the genus was established in 1832, Rungia has not yet been revised. Errors in taxonomic treatment, particularly on species level, are rather prevalent in the genus. In this project, we attempt to adopt the multidisciplinary approaches, which combines literature and specimens collation, field investigation and collection, with in-depth micro-morphological and molecular phylogenetic studies, to evaluate the taxonomic value of each trait, and to carry out a taxonomic revision of Rungia worldwide. In the light of our thorough revision of the genus, we will try to re-construct its phylogeny using evidence from different disciplines, and to improve the infrageneric classification system. Our project will be of significant importance for biogeographic study, and will also provide invaluable basic scientific information for the utilization and protection of the resources of Rungia.
孩儿草属隶属于爵床科爵床族,全世界有50多种,分布于旧世界的热带亚热带地区,其中我国有22种。该属许多种类具有药用、食用和观赏价值。然而该属自1832年建立以来从未进行过系统的分类学研究,存在许多基本分类学问题有待解决。本项目拟采用多学科手段对世界范围的孩儿草属进行综合分类学研究,通过开展文献考证、标本查阅和野外考察工作,综合宏观形态、花粉微形态、种子微形态和分子系统学研究的结果,评价各类性状的分类价值,厘清全世界孩儿草属种类,完成种级水平的分类修订;阐明孩儿草属内的系统发育关系,建立一个较自然而完整的属下分类系统。澄清该属的分类学问题可为生物地理学研究奠定基础,并为资源的利用和保护提供基础科学资料。
