With the supporting by NSFC, the deterioration and conservation mechanisms of historic stone, especially the outdoor stone buildings and monuments, have been studied. The deterioration mechanisms includ the action and the associated action of the stone destructive factors: moisture cycles, salt crystal, microbe, frost and fusion, air pollution and acid rain etal. The main conservation materials and protection methods that normally used are researched in our laboratory. Many conceptions for stone conservation have been ascertained and adjusted. On the other hand, when we investigated the rock outdoors, a crude mineralized film is found on the surface of the historic stone. Under the film, some stone inscriptions are well preserved though they made one more thousand years ago. The forming mechanism has been discussed and the conservation film has been made artificially on the calcic stone by chemical bionic method in our laboratory. Based on NSFC subject, we have joined in some national conservation works for historic stone and many protective materials that produced from our laboratory have been applied in these works successfully.
石质文物是无法再生的文化遗产和旅游资源,近年来酸雨及其他环境污染给野外的大型石质文物造成很大危害,应当适时采取防护、措施。科学的处理需要基础研究,石质文物腐蚀与防护机理的研究对于我们在保护石质文物过程中选择恰当的防护措施,准确预测和评价防护效果,治理环境侵害因素,指导防护材料的设计和生产等方面都有重要意义。
