The xerophyte and the super-xerophyte plants are the insufficient and urgently needed plant resources in our country at present.This item systematically studied on the biological characteristics of seed of Ceratoides genus,including 4 species,8 ecotypes,the study put the emphasis on the reason and mechanism of seed deterioration,and put forward the technology to improve seed vigour and to lengthen seed longevity.The main contents and results:Studied on the biological characteristics of seed of Ceratoide show:Draw the conclusion that seed of Ceratoides genus belongs to little, low nutrition and short longevity seed;The reproductive aharacters: The Ceratoides plant belongs to monoecism,cross pollination plant.Embryo produced through monoecism,cross pollination developed slowlier than that produced through dioecism, cross pollination. Vigour of monoecism,cross pollination seed is lower, longevity of monoecism,cross pollination seed is shorter than that of dioecism, cross pollination seed.Studied on the physiological characteristics of seed of Ceratoide show: We studied on the germination characteristics, seed vigour, embryo development, blom characters; Seed morpholigy, embryo development, nutritive level and physiological activity closely correlated with seed mature and storage circumstance.The reason for short life and deterioration of Ceratoides genus seed: First, the developing type of this genus seed belongs to high quantity, low nutrition type. The nature longevity is 8~10 months; Second, the adverse environment cause seed's undevelopment; Third, high moisture and high temperature during seed storagement will accelerate seed deterioration.There are obvious different between species or ecotypes on seedling vigour, salt resistance and drought resistance. The drought resistance of seedling positive correlated with seed vigour,and didn't correlate with drought resistance of plant.We studied on the genetic characters of Ceratoides genus through isoenzyme technology and RAPD technology for the first time..We put forward the optimum storage condition and storage method. We summaried that the moisture is the key factor influencing seed deterioration.The seed longevity could be lengthened to 2~3 years, if seed were storaged in super dry( RH2.5~4.5%) and low temperature circumstance; We put forward the comprehensive production technology to improve the seed production and seed quanlity.This research has theoretical and experimental significance on clarifying the deterioration mechanism of seed and technological principle of seed super-dry storage
