In recent years, organic circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) materials have attracted considerable attentions due to their great potentials in three-dimensional displays, spintronics devices, biological sensing, and so on. However, most CPL materials have either low CPL activity or low luminescence efficiency, and little attention has been paid to the structure-function relationship study, which hinder the further development of this area. Helicenes and their derivatives are a class of excellent CPL material showing high CPL activity, which is owing to their helical conjugated skeletons and inherent chirality. In this project, we plan to design and synthesize novel CPL materials based on double helicenes with the following considerations. First, fusing two helicene units could enhance the resulting CPL activity according to some preliminary studies in the literature; second, introduction of chromophores (eg. heterocycles) into the helical backbones could increase the luminescence efficiency. Moreover, the relationship between molecular structures, molecular packing structures and CPL properties will be systematically investigated, which will provide instructions on the design and synthesis of new CPL materials with high performance, and pave the way toward further applications.
近年来,有机圆偏振发光材料因其在立体三维显示、自旋信息通讯、生物荧光传感等领域具有广阔的应用前景,成为光电功能材料的研究热点。但是,目前大部分圆偏振发光材料无法同时实现高圆偏振发光活性和高发光效率,而且关于材料构效关系的研究较少,成为限制这一领域发展的瓶颈。螺烯因其独特的螺旋共轭骨架和手性特征,显示出显著的圆偏振发光活性,有望在圆偏振发光领域获得应有。本项目拟设计、合成新型的双螺烯类圆偏振发光材料。一方面,通过将两个螺烯单元稠合的方式来增强螺烯类材料的圆偏振发光活性;另一方面,采用在双螺烯骨架上引入芳杂环等优良的发光基团,来提高材料的发光效率,从而实现兼具高圆偏振发光活性和发光效率的分子体系的构筑。系统研究分子及分子聚集态结构对材料圆偏振发光性能的影响,总结出一些规律,指导高性能圆偏振发光材料的设计合成,为其进一步的应用打下基础。
