Incorporation of sugars into traditional hydrogels may significantly improve their biocompatibility and hydrophilic characteristics, which originate from the carbohydrate moieties. Sugar-based hydrogels are used or show promise in a wide range of applications including functional components of hydrogels, adsorbents, and biorecognition agents. Sugar-based hudrogels might represent a new substrate for cell growth and may improve the adhesion or growth characteristics of microbial and mammalian cells. The hydrogel containing chiral sugars may have particular clinical applications because proteins or cells are capable of chiral recognition. Enzymically generated sugar acrylates hydrogels had molecular imprinting properties, called MIPs (molecularly imprinted polymers), which can be used as chiral stationary phases for separating amino acid.Several kinds of unsaturated glymonomer ,such as Glycosylallylamide(AAG), glycosylvinylbenzylamide(VBG), acrylamidolactamine (LAMA), sugar acrylates and cyclodextrin methacrylate were prepared by different methods. The different structure glycopolymers and sugar-containing hydrogels were synthesized by copolymerization of these glymonomer with other monomers. These polymers were characterized by IR, NMR, EA , TGA and DSC . The effects of factors on swelling ratio of the hydrogel, such as temperature, pH, the salt concentration, and protein concentration were studied. Solution properties of glycopolymers were also obsereved by viscosity method. The behavior of drug release from sugar-xerogels matrices were examined and the results indicated that the drug release increased with increasing sugar content of hydrogel. In addition, two sorts of problems on drug controlled release from hydrogel were also studed.

以单糖、双糖为原料采用酶催化化学合成方法制备含糖基的功能性单体,然后用这些单体与其他乙烯基单体聚合制备一系列不同结构特征的生物相容性水凝胶并进行表征,研究新单体共聚合的反应规律,探索水凝胶的结构和性能之间的关系,揭示糖基结构存在对水凝胶的生物降解特性及与生物高分子的作用规律和功能机理。这项工作不仅提供含糖基结构的单体和合成方法,丰富国内功能性单体的新品种,而且将制备一系列具有良好生物相容性的水凝胶,开辟水凝胶新的应用领域,促进我国生物相容性水凝胶的发展,同时有利于天然糖类化合物的综合利用。
