The aggaregates consisted of surfactants with same hydrophobic group and different hydrophilic group and macromolecules with different structure, such as polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) , polyacrylamide (HPAM) and xanthan(XC) have been investigated by means of fluorescence probing , surface tension, IR and computer simulation methods, and so on.The addition of XC and PVP resulted in a decrease of the aggregation number of dodecyldecyl betaine (C12BE) micelle. But there is a weaker interaction between LS-54 and PVP due to both molecules with weak positive charge. XC can decrease aggregation number of C12BE micelle and increase that of non-ionic surfactant LS-54, but there is no obvious effect on C11COONa. These disparities in properties should be due to the difference of the polar head group of the surfactants.The binding of dodecyl-oxypropyl-b-hydroxyl-trimethyl ammonium bromide (C12NBr) on different polyanions, such as hydrolysis polyacrylamide(HPAM), XC and hydrophobic modified polyccrylates (AMB) were investigated by using a potentiometric technique and surface tension measurements. The binding isotherms of C12NBr to HPAM and XC show cooperative characteristic, and the that of C12NBr to AMB and AMBA show a slow and continuous increase in binding amount as the increase of C12NBr concentration.
