Based on the traverse investigations along the Zhongshan-Dome A transection in East Antarctica Ice Sheet and multiple analyses of the samples from ice cores and snow-pits, a 250a continuous climatic and environmental record with the resolution of a year was reconstructed and fourteen volcanic eruptions over the perod 14 have been identified. The biogenic organic-acid analysis of a shallow core has provided a 60a series of MSA concentration and flux variations. It is believed that the sea-ice area in the South India Ocean has an important controlling effect on MSA flux. With comparison of the results in the neighbour regions, differences of climate change between east and west sides of the Lambert Glacier have been revealed and it is pointed out that the glacier valley is an important climate boundary in East Antarctica. After collecting and analyzing the latest data on the snow accumulation rate, ice sheet thickness and velocity, the ice flowing flux across a traverse route and the integrated accumulation over the upstream area were calculated. The result shows that the Lambert Glacier basin is in a positive mass balance state, and in further, the effect of Antarctic Ice Sheet on sea level change is discussed.
