Tribological behaviors of plasma sprayed tungsten carbide coatings under ompressive and shearing stress were studied. Friction and cold welding of friction pairs coated of WC coating and different materials M (such as LY12, TC4, Ti coatings, NiAl coatings, Zn plate, Ni plate, and anodized Al2O3 membrane) were investigated. According to the stereology principle, a new technique, named stylus method, for characterization the porosity of plasma sprayed coatings using surface roughness tester has been established.
