The species diversity in a plant community is not only related to contemporary environmental factors and ecological processes but is also limited by the regional species pool. Regional species pool means a set of species occurring in a particular region that can potentially inhabit a site because of suitable local ecological conditions. At regional scale, regional species pool can affect the species diversity in a plant community. However, there are only a few studies on the response mechanism of species diversity in plant communities to the regional species pool in alpine regions. Through this project, we aim to conduct systematic field investigations to record distributions, diversities, and functional traits of species in the plant communities of grasslands and meadows of Qinghai Lake region. Ecological models (e.g., ecological niche models) and geographic information system will be used to project regional species pool of grasslands and meadows in Qinghai Lake region. Regression models will then be used to establish the response framework for the environmental factors, regional species pool, species diversity in plant communities, to explore the response mechanism of species diversity in the plant community to regional species pool in grasslands and meadows of Qinghai Lake region. Furthermore, in this project, we will compare the variation tendency of species diversity in the plant community along the regional species pool gradient. The differences in diversity response to regional species pool among plant communities of grasslands and meadows based on vegetation types and sub-types will then be revealed. Using the results of this project, we will disclose the formation mechanism of species diversity in a plant community in the alpine regions in order to enrich relevant theories.
植物群落的物种多样性不仅与环境条件、生态过程有关,还受区域种库的限制。区域种库是指分布在某一区域的、能够在对象群落中潜在共存的一群物种。区域种库会在区域尺度上影响群落尺度上的植物多样性。但目前仍缺乏有关高寒地区植物群落物种多样性对区域种库响应机制的相关研究。本研究将对青海湖地区的草原与草甸植物群落物种分布、多样性和主要功能性状进行系统的野外调查。然后,使用生态模拟(如生态位模型)和地理信息系统等研究手段对青海湖地区的草原与草甸区域种库进行评估。最后,利用回归模型等研究手段建立环境因子——区域种库——植物群落物种多样性的响应机制框架。本研究主要揭示高寒地区草原与草甸及其植被亚类植物群落物种多样性对于区域种库的响应机制,进而比较草原和草甸及其植被亚类之间植物群落物种多样性对区域种库响应机制的差异。揭示了基于种库假说高寒地区植物群落物种多样性的形成机理,丰富和发展了植物群落物种多样性理论。
